TOLEDO CITY, Cebu – A 67-year-old grandmother was arrested by elements of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 7 following a buy-bust operation at her house in barangays Matab-ang, Toledo City.
The suspect, Virginia Jareño, was dubbed as the “shabu queen” of Toledo City because of her capability to dispose up to 500 grams of shabu per week, said PDEA 7 spokesperson Leia Albiar.
Albiar said Jareño took over the illegal drug trade from her son, Jay, who was killed in an anti-drug operation in December last year.
PDEA 7 agents seized 57 small packs that allegedly contained shabu during the buy-bust operation Wednesday but Jareño said she does not know where the drugs that the agents seized came from.
She also denied any involvement in the illegal drugs trade, saying she has a small business. However, PDEA 7 records showed that Jareño was arrested in 2006 for selling drugs. CebuNews.PH
