The Cebu City Government is set to distribute the financial assistance for qualified persons with disabilities (PWDs) in the city starting this Saturday, May 8, 2021.
Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella, however, warned PWDs in the city not to troop to the city hall or barangay halls for the distribution of their financial assistance because the aid will be distributed in a house-to-house manner.
The financial assistance of P5,000 covers the months of January, February, March, April, and May and will be given to 11,000 qualified PWDs.
Qualified beneficiaries will need to wait in their respective houses for the distributors to hand them the financial assistance. Labella said the government assistance can be used to buy necessities, such as food, medicine, and others.
The distribution of the financial assistance for PWDs is covered by City Ordinance 2456. The ordinance stipulates that cash aid amounting to P12,000 per year, or P3,000 per quarter, will be given to qualified PWDs.

“In order to have more ease in future distributions of financial aid to senior citizens and PWDs in the new normal, the City Government of Cebu deems it fit to do the distribution through cash cards and establish guidelines thereto,” the executive order reads.
In October, Labella issued an executive order that established the guidelines for the distribution of financial assistance, through cash card, for eligible senior citizens and PWDs in the city.
The mayor expressed confidence that the distribution of financial assistance will not take long because the number of PWDs in the city is smaller than the 80,000 senior citizens. – CebuNews.ph
